With sweeping mountain views and crisp alpine air, High Camp offers one of the most breathtaking backdrops I’ve ever had the joy of painting. Although I wasn’t there live (I wish!), I was transported through the couple’s photos, the details lovingly described by their cousin, and the emotion that came through in every part of their celebration.

My goal in the studio and always is to not just capture what the day looked like, after all, their wedding photographer, Bridgette Wuest, did a beyond amazing job at that, but how it felt; the joy, the altitude (literally and emotionally), and the powerful sense of togetherness that happens when friends and family gather in a place as awe-inspiring as Lake Tahoe.

From the beginning, I knew this painting would be something special, and I was beyond excited to paint my favorite type of landscape. It was created not just as a keepsake, but as a surprise gift, a way to preserve a memory and say: this day mattered.
