Painting Love Back Home: A Live Wedding Painting at Blue Barn Berry Farm in Warsaw, IN
There’s something extra special about painting a wedding in the part of the world that raised you.
This summer, I had the joy of creating a live wedding painting at Blue Barn Berry Farm in Warsaw, Indiana, and it was everything I love most; family, beauty, and a lake country.
As someone who grew up in Fort Wayne and spent countless weekends around lakes like Lake James, Wawasee, Big Long Lake, and now Hamilton Lake (where my parents live), getting to paint in northern Indiana always feels like a homecoming. I’m so happy to be an Indiana live wedding painter, and I don’t even charge travel fees for weddings in this area because they give me an excuse to come back to a place I love and spend time with my family.
A Wedding with Heart and Views
The venue, Blue Barn Berry Farm, was stunning. The ceremony took place with a peaceful lake in the background, and the reception was framed by glass walls that let the spring light pour in. It was elegant, yet relaxed, one of those weddings where everything feels deeply intentional but still effortlessly joyful.
The couple's family was incredibly kind and welcoming. From the moment I arrived with my easel, I felt like part of the celebration. The scene I painted captured the couple during their first look and I worked hard to ensure all their favorite aspects of the venue were involved, from the blueberry fields, to the glass venue, to the lake.
Why Indiana Weddings Are So Meaningful to Me
There’s something about the Indiana lake country that’s woven into who I am. The wide skies, peaceful water, and the comfort of home. Weddings here feel different to me. I know the trees, the sounds, the way the light moves. Painting in places like Warsaw, Fort Wayne, Angola, Indy or Hamilton isn’t just work, it’s really personal.
These weddings give me a chance to do what I love in the places I love, while also spending time with my parents and reliving some of my favorite memories from growing up. It’s the best of both worlds.
